YOUTH CAMPS: GRADES 6-9/AGES 11-15
1-WEEK, MONDAY-FRIDAY CAMPS
The Chicago Industrial Arts & Design Center (CIADC) Summer Camps are an opportunity for youth to take part in a supportive setting to explore the industrial arts and nurture interests that can lead to post-secondary pathway opportunities in STEM, Trade, and Art/Design. And, you make really cool things in Camp too!
Each week, choose from the Department Shop Camp options! New Students will work on guided projects to learn safety, proper tool use, and fundamental skills. Returning Students will expand their skillsets through personal projects with instructor guidance.
DEPARTMENT SHOPS
Metal Casting - Explore the metal casting process including design, pattern making, mold making, metal casting, and finishing of metal objects!
CNC Fabrication - Explore the CNC fabrication process including digital design (CAD), converting to machine language (CAM), CNC router and CNC plasma cutter machine operation, and finioshing of wood/metal objects!
Metalworking & Forging – Explore the metal fabrication process including design, metal properties, cutting, forging, welding, and fabrication of metal objects!
Woodworking – Explore the wood construction process including design, wood properties, cutting, milling, joining, and construction of wooden objects!
